Professional Tankless Water Heater Installation in Pico Rivera and the Surrounding Areas

Tankless water heaters deliver a modern, energy-efficient way to enjoy hot water on demand — no more waiting for a tank to refill or worrying about running out. At Water Heater Genius, we specialize in the installation, replacement of an existing water heater, and setup of high-performance tankless systems from all major brands.

Our licensed technicians size the unit to your household's actual peak demand, then check whether the house can feed it. Gas line sizing is the usual gating item on a conversion — a tankless burner draws several times what a tank does, so the existing line is often too small and needs upsizing or a dedicated run from the meter. Add the new vent, the condensate drain, and a dedicated circuit on some models, and that is most of the difference in cost between a tankless conversion and a like-for-like tank swap. We check all of it before quoting.

Sizing a Tankless Unit for Los Angeles County

A tankless water heater is sized by flow rate, gallons per minute (GPM), at a given temperature rise, not by gallons. Incoming water in Los Angeles County runs about 55°F to 60°F in winter, so a unit has to lift it 60°F to 65°F to reach 120°F. That is the number we size to, not the “max GPM” on the box, which manufacturers rate at a 35°F rise.

At that rise, this is what a household needs and the class of unit that delivers it:

PeopleBathroomsRuns at onceTarget flowUnit class that delivers it here
1 to 21A shower plus a sink3.5 to 5 GPM120,000 to 160,000 BTU
3 to 42Two showers, or a shower plus the washer5 to 7 GPM160,000 to 199,000 BTU
5 or more3 or moreTwo showers plus laundry or the dishwasher7 GPM and up199,000 BTU, or two units

The target flow is the fixtures that run at the same time during the busiest moment, added up:

FixtureFlow
Shower, standard head2.5 GPM
Bathroom faucet0.5 to 1.0 GPM
Kitchen faucet1.4 to 1.5 GPM
Dishwasher1.5 GPM
Clothes washer1.5 to 2.0 GPM
Tub fill3.0 to 4.0 GPM

We install every major brand, so here is what the common models actually deliver at a Los Angeles rise, from each manufacturer’s own sizing document. These are published outputs at the stated rise, not the spec-sheet maximum:

ModelGas inputPublished flow at the stated rise
Rinnai V65150,000 BTU4.3 GPM at a 60°F rise
Rinnai V75 / RL75180,000 BTU5.1 GPM at a 60°F rise
Rinnai RU180180,000 BTU5.0 GPM at a 60°F rise
Rinnai RU199199,000 BTU6.6 GPM at a 60°F rise
Rinnai RUC90199,000 BTU6.0 GPM at a 70°F rise
Rinnai RUR199199,000 BTU6.6 GPM at a 70°F rise
Noritz EZ71160,000 BTU4.8 GPM at a 65°F rise
Noritz EZ98180,000 BTU5.3 GPM at a 65°F rise
Noritz EZ111199,900 BTU6.0 GPM at a 65°F rise
Navien NPE-240A2199,900 BTU5.6 GPM at a 70°F rise

Two showers plus the washer is about 6 GPM, which is 199,000 BTU territory here. A larger home with four showers and a dishwasher running is around 10 GPM, which means two units. We run this math on your fixtures and gas line before we quote, and the book-price EZTR40 and EZTR50 conversions above are sized the same way.

Tankless Installation Prices

Replacing a storage tank with a tankless unit has a book price when the new unit can use the existing hookups. Noritz makes two models for exactly that: the EZTR40 replaces a 40-gallon tank and the EZTR50 replaces a 50-gallon tank.

ServicePriceIncludes / notes
Storage tank to tankless conversionReplacing 40 gal: $3,295Replacing 50 gal: $3,695
  • Noritz EZTR40 for a 40-gallon tank, EZTR50 for a 50-gallon tank.
  • Includes new hot and cold water supply lines, gas supply line, and isolation valves.
Tankless installation, any other brand or modelQuoted on siteNavien, Rinnai, Takagi, Rheem and others. Gas line sizing and venting decide the number, so it is evaluated on site.

Add-ons and code items such as the permit, earthquake straps, a gas sediment trap and venting are priced separately on our pricing page. A second-level or indoor installation carries a $249 surcharge. Book prices apply during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM; pricing outside those hours or in an emergency is subject to change. We take calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Our Warranty

Every installation is backed by a 1-year Water Heater Genius labor warranty on all connections. The unit carries the manufacturer’s warranty on top of that: 12 to 15 years on the heat exchanger for most residential tankless units, and 25 years or 15,000 hours on the Noritz EZ series, which includes the EZTR40 and EZTR50 we install at book price. Other parts are usually covered for 5 years. Registering the unit with the manufacturer is the homeowner’s step, and the deadline matters (A. O. Smith and Rinnai both give 90 days), so we go over the exact terms and the registration step before the work starts.

Tankless water heater warranties by manufacturer
Brand and seriesHeat exchangerOther partsLabor from the manufacturer
Rinnai SENSEI (RU, RX, RXP, RUR series)15 years or 12,000 hours5 years5 years if registered within 90 days, otherwise 1 year
Navien NPE15 years (5 years with an uncontrolled recirculation pump)5 years (3 years with uncontrolled recirculation)1 year
Noritz EZ series (EZ71, EZ98, EZ111, EZTR)25 years or 15,000 hours5 years1 year
Noritz NR series12 years (or 6,500 hours with controlled recirculation)5 years1 year
Rheem residential gas tankless12 years5 years1 year
A. O. Smith ProLine tankless15 years5 yearsNot covered

Every one of those warranties carries the same three conditions: professional installation (Rheem and Rinnai both say an improper install can void it), annual descaling (scale damage is excluded by all of them), and no uncontrolled recirculation pump, which cuts the heat exchanger term to 3 to 5 years. The descaling condition is the reason we put a yearly descale flush on the calendar the day we install. The labor column is each manufacturer’s own coverage and is separate from our 1-year labor warranty, which applies whichever brand you choose.
